During the semester my thinking of art has changed a lot. In the beginning I didn't look at themes and go deeper with them I just drew what most people would first think of. Now I know how to create a unique piece from a certain theme. In the artists solve problems unit where we couldn't use normal techniques of arting (painting or drawing) I learned a lot about other more creative ways to make art. Near the beginning of the year (left) my art was very one dimensional and didn’t have a lot going on. Towards the end of the year (right) I developed other skills like layering and creating texture to make more interesting art. Also I learned how to use different things in the art to make it have more meaning.
My art making skills have improved a lot, I learned how to take themes and translate them into deeper art and learned how to art more creatively and make art that means more. For the theme beauty I drew the flower below in the beginning of the year. Now at the end of the year to show the theme of beauty I drew the two masks on the left showing beauty can be deceiving. That someone can just put on a "mask" for others eyes.
Over the course of time my hand drawings also improved and I learned how to show value and dimension in the hands.
My favorite unit was the artists solve problems because I learned how to make art in a different way. It was super fun to figure things out in this unit. I liked experimenting with different techniques and learning what ways worked better.
I loved how we did so many different units but could put our own spin on it. That way we all ended up with different art at the end but they all connected. I also liked how we did the blogs and they reflected our work over that unit. Learning art terms also helped when writing the blogs and made it easier to explain what I had done in the unit. I loved doing gallery walks so I could see what everyone else had made. I don’t think there was anything you could’ve done to make class better, I loved it and learned a lot!
